WHAT WE OFFER
Childhood sexual abuse is a complex and pervasive trauma. We offer counseling provided by Master’s level therapists with advanced training and experience in how to help adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse work through their healing process. Having access to this specialized counseling can make a significant difference in the quality of life of our clients.
The adults we serve—of whom approximately 40 percent are men and 60 percent are women—were traumatized as children but carry the message of shame and mistrust well into adulthood.
For those who have experienced the pain and fragmentation of sexual abuse, the connection with an individual therapist, or with other group members, initiates a journey to reclaim the sense of trust and safety lost through abuse.
A hallmark of our agency is the availability of group therapy services as an adjunct to individual therapy. Roanoke’s groups for men and women survivors are 21-week process groups to meet the needs of our clients. Partner support groups are also offered to support individuals whose partners are dealing with the effects of childhood sexual abuse.
Childhood sexual abuse is a core source of many other difficulties and challenges in survivors' lives. Roanoke’s unique services have significantly improved the quality of life of individuals, families, and communities since 1987.

I am feeling much more hopeful about my life and my future. I no longer feel like my head will explode from the stress of carrying the burden of my ‘secret.’ I no longer feel so alone in the world. Thank you!
